Kingston mayor “saddened” by high school attack

KINGSTON – Mayor Steven Noble, Thursday, said he is “shocked and saddened by the horrific and violent incident” at Kingston High School on Wednesday and he condemned the violence and said he stands ready to help in any way.

“As mayor and as a father, I want all of our families in Kingston to fully understand that the safety of our children is of the utmost importance to me. I stand in partnership with Kingston schools, prepared to take all necessary action to protect the safety of all school students,” Noble said.

He has been in contact with Superintendent Paul Padalino and has directed the city police to provide full and ongoing assistance.

The mayor said the superintendent, Police Chief Egidio Tinto and he plan to meet to discuss continuing safety measures in city schools. “We will continue to engage in a larger conversation with the community, to further improve the sense of safety and belonging in our schools.”

The attack in the cafeteria of the high school on Wednesday sent one student to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
