WAPPINGERS FALLS – Thirty-seven-year-old Wimary Rosa was arrested early Monday morning after allegedly stabbing a person at a residence and leading state police on a chase through town, including driving through backyards of homes.  The incident unfolded just after midnight on May 1, 2023.

Police were called to a Cady Road residence for a victim stabbed in the leg.  It was reported that the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle.

State police located the vehicle and attempted to stop it.  The driver did not comply and raced north to All Angels Hill Road, went south on All Angels Hill, and crossed over Widmer Road.  When the driver crossed over Widmer Road, she turned the headlights off and continued to flee.

The suspect, still being pursued, traveled north on New Hackensack Road and then north on Jackson Road before reversing direction and heading down New Hackensack Road to Route 9.  The suspect went south on Route 9 and turned onto East Main Street to Givans Avenue, where the operator drove through backyards before being apprehended by the police.

Rosa, the operator, was charged with felony assault for the stabbing and the misdemeanor of fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Rosa was issued an appearance ticket for a future court date but will likely not be driving to court because the vehicle was impounded.
