Royal Hanneford Circus

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Royal Hanneford Circus rolled into Poughkeepsie early Friday morning to set up for six shows this weekend.  The ninth generation of the Hanneford family will join with relatives to perform at the MJN Convention Center (formerly the Mid-Hudson Civic Center) for one show Friday night at 6:00 p.m., three on Saturday, and two more on Sunday.

Each show is more than two hours of entertainment with pony rides available at the intermission and tickets are available at the MJN Box Office or by clicking here.

The Hanneford Poema family has taken the Entertainment World by storm and it is easy to see why.  Rave notices, standing ovations, and thunderous applause are attributed to the unique talents of Catherine, Mariana, Adrian Jr., and Tommy, 8th-generation performers following in the tradition and footsteps of their ancestors.

Father Adrian Poema, a 6th generation performer from Buenos Aires Argentina, started performing at the tender age of 3 with his family’s Risley act in Argentina. An accomplished acrobat and performer, one of the few to perfect the difficult “one-finger stand”, with great pride, has performed with his children and wife in the presentation of the Hanneford Circus. Mother, Nellie Hanneford, 7th generation circus performer and daughter of the late Tommy and Struppi Hanneford, was literally “born in the Trunk” and began her circus career at the age of 2. An accomplished Equestrian and Aerialist.  Adrian and Nellie met while performing on the Hanneford Circus, were married in 1995
and now have four children. Catherine, age 26, Mariana, age 24, Adrian Jr., age 21, and Tommy Hanneford Poema, age 16.

It’s no wonder that Catherine, Marina, and Adrian Jr. are accomplished acrobats, aerialists, and equestrians, and Tommy is a “natural” following in his grandfather’s footsteps with comedy.  This family show will leave you feeling good all over, acrobatic, thrill, agility, laughs, and excitement rolled into one package of genuine love for performing,” according to MJN Center President Zeidan Nesheiwat.
