FISHKILL – Just like many other communities in the Hudson Valley/Catskills, the Town of Fishkill is catching the eye of filmmakers.

Until now, the town has had no policy or procedure for the shooting of those productions.

The town board is going to develop a local law requiring film crews to obtain a permit to film in the town. That would require the production company to send notifications to residents in the vicinity of the filming, and would also establish rules governing filming after 10 p.m.

The issue came to light recently when Town Supervisor Ozzie Albra received a number of complaints in the Glenham/Beacon Hills area while a TV series was shooting a scene in the area of Washington Avenue, blocking traffic without notifying residents of the disruption.

Some residents were concerned that no notice was sent out by the town after it was made aware of the filming.

The town attorney has been assigned the task of drafting a local law to be reviewed by the town board.
