Regional unemployment continues decline in March

ALBANY – The March 2023 unemployment rate for the Hudson Valley was 2.9 percent. That compares to 3.3 percent in March 2022, the State Labor Department reported Tuesday.

Counties in the region followed the same trend with unemployment in March lower than the same month one year earlier.

Rockland County had the lowest rate in the Hudson Valley/Catskills – 2.6 percent.

That was followed with Putnam County with 2.7 percent joblessness.

Columbia, Dutchess and Westchester counties each registered 2.9 percent unemployment in March.

Orange County had 3.0 percent unemployment in March while Ulster County registered 3.1 percent and Sullivan County had 3.2 percent.

Joblessness in Greene County stood at 3.6 percent while in Delaware County, it stood at 3.9 percent.
