FALLSBURG – Town of Fallsburg Police will be implementing body cameras for all officers as a means to increase transparency and accountability, and to improve public trust in the department.

“We believe that body cameras are an important tool for modern policing,” said Chief Simmie Williams. “They not only provide an objective record of interactions between police officers and the public, but they also help to protect our officers from false accusations.”

Town Supervisor Kathy Rapport said the town believes the body cams “will help to ensure that both our officers and community are held accountable for their actions, and that everyone is treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.”

All officers are expected to be equipped with the devices by the end of April.
