YONKERS – Police are investigating alleged criminal behavior by a Yonkers Public School teacher.

It is alleged by a student that William Archacki, 50, a teacher at Public School #21, had caused a student to fear for their safety by walking up behind the student while holding a paring knife during school hours on February 8.

Authorities did not reveal if the student was a boy or girl.

Archacki, a Buchanan resident, was a fifth-grade teacher at the time.

He was placed on modified duty the day after the incident, pending the outcome of an investigation.

Yonkers detectives arrested him on April 13, charging him with endangering the welfare of a child.

Archacki was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
