KINGSTON – Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger has named Valerie Naccarato as the county’s director of the Department of Probation.
She previously served as deputy director until Director Nancy Schmidt retired in January, at which point, she was named acting director. Naccarato is also serving as the department’s STOP DWI coordinator.
“No one knows the value of services provided by the Probation Department better than Valerie Naccarato,” said Metzger.
Naccarato began her career with the county in 1988, working at the Department of Social Services before moving to Probation.
She is also trained as a certified rape crisis counselor.
Her appointment requires confirmation by the county legislature, which is seen as only a formality.
