WURTSBORO – Emergency services personnel from several area agencies were on the scene of a crash between a fully loaded dump truck and an 18-wheeler in Wurtsboro Tuesday afternoon.

It occurred at around 3:15 p.m. at Sullivan Street and Kingston Avenue in the vicinity of a gas station, said Wurtsboro Fire Chief Dustin Graham.

“One of the trucks lost its brakes causing a t-bone collision. One truck fell into the other truck, and it took us about 3 ½ hours to extricate the one driver due to the fact where the one truck struck pinning the female driver down into the driver’s seat, so we had to cut away the firewall,” Chief Graham said.

Another complication was that a utility pole at the location snapped off causing concern that it could destabilize the tipped-over truck.
Graham said the injured woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

State Police investigated the incident.
