TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A New Paltz man was committed to the Dutchess County Jail without bail following an incident in the Town of Poughkeepsie on Friday evening, April 7.
Officers from Poughkeepsie Town Police responded to a report of suspicious activity in the area of Magnolia Lane.
Police located Eric Nichol outside a residence with no affiliation to him.
During the course of the investigation, he was found in possession of a loaded illegal gun and suspected narcotics.
Further investigation resulted in other narcotics found at a nearby location rented by Nichol.
As a result, he was charged with three counts of drug possession, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, and obstructing governmental administration.
