POUGHKEEPSIE – More than $2.4 million will be awarded for 21 projects through Dutchess County’s 2023 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME).

County officials said this investment will remove barriers to accessibility for seniors and those with special needs, address critical infrastructure needs and expand affordable housing options throughout the county.

CDBG and HOME program funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to address locally identified community development and housing needs. CDBG funds support community development projects and activities that benefit low- and moderate-income people, neighborhoods and communities; the HOME Investment program creates affordable housing options for low-income households.

“These funding awards address several infrastructure needs, including drainage enhancements, removal and replacement of a galvanized waterline, and affordable housing opportunities,” said County Executive Bill O’Neil. “These grant awards, in coordination with other county initiatives and state and federal funding opportunities, address the widespread need to replace aging infrastructure and to promote housing affordability for all.”

The funding recommendations are contingent on the completion of the 30-day public comment period of the HUD-required 2023 Annual Action Plan. Dutchess County is currently seeking comments on the draft 2023 Annual Action Plan through April 20, 2023. A public meeting will be held both in-person and virtually at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12; additional information regarding the public hearing is available on the Department of Planning and Development’s webpage.
