POUGHKEEPSIE – Many people gathered for a waterfront event in Poughkeepsie on Wednesday commented on a Loch Ness Monster sighting in the Hudson River.  A large tree resembling the mythical European sea monster was making its way downriver, posing a risk for early-season boaters fishing for Striped Bass.

The large obstruction was moving south with the tide and had just passed under the Walkway Over the Hudson at approximately 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Floating obstructions in the river are not uncommon and are more frequent in the springtime.

Boaters are encouraged to be on the lookout for partially submerged debris that could cause damage to their vessel.
