Coxsackie man pleads guilty in fatal car crash

CATSKILL – A 35-year-old Coxsackie man pled guilty in Greene County Court to aggravated vehicular homicide and driving while ability impaired by a combination of drugs and alcohol.

On September 24, 2022, John Peterson was driving on Route 9W in Athens when he crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and struck another car head-on. The driver of the other vehicle, Danielle McKenna, 41, of Cairo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Peterson was treated for serious injuries.

He will be sentenced to state prison at a later date, court officials said.
