Woman stabbed; man charged with attempted murder

CHESTNUT RIDGE – A 50-year-old Chestnut Ridge man was committed to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail after being charged with attempted murder.

Ramapo Town Police responded to a residence in the Village of Chestnut Ridge just after 6 a.m. on Sunday for a report of a stabbing.

Officers found a woman who had sustained a stab wound. She was transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla by the William P. Faist Volunteer Ambulance Corp.

The suspect, identified as Jose Cevallos-Moscoso, who was still on the scene, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern with self-inflicted injuries. He was treated, released and arrested, charged with attempted murder, attempted assault, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Ramapo Police were assisted by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Rockland Paramedic Services and the William P. Faist Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
