Deerpark man arrested for possession of drugs and guns

DEERPARK – A 53-year-old Town of Deerpark man has been arrested after a month-long investigation for a series of drug and weapons charges.  

The state police Troop F Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team, along with the Town of Deerpark Police Department and the City of Port Jervis Police Department executed a search warrant on the home of John Norris on March 3 that resulted in his arrest.

The search yielded two loaded Code Red assault rifles, a loaded Springfield XD-45 .45 caliber handgun, five large capacity ammunition feeding devices, numerous rounds of ammunition, a bullet-proof vest, 4.4 grams of crack-cocaine, 1.7 grams of heroin, 2.1 grams of amphetamine pills, 1.6 grams of Clonazepam pills, 1.5 grams of fentanyl pills, 32.6 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 37.7 grams of Suboxone and Naloxone sublingual films, a glass pipe with burnt crack residue, a digital scale and $6,176 in cash.

Norris was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon, five counts of criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally using drug paraphernalia, and six counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Norris was arraigned and remanded to Orange County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
