Town of Poughkeepsie man arrested with gun stolen from Texas

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Nineteen-year-old Charles Barbaro, a town resident, has been arrested on felony charges after a February 18, 2023 traffic stop on South Road (Route 9) for multiple vehicle and traffic infractions.  The town police released the information on social media on Tuesday afternoon.

Barbaro has been charged with the felonies of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property after the 3:21 a.m. traffic stop on Route 9 when Barbaro, a passenger in the vehicle was found in possession of a loaded Colt revolver reported stolen from a location in Austin, Texas in 1989.

Barbaro was arraigned in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court and was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond, or $25,000 partial bond and is scheduled to return to the Town of Poughkeepsie Court at a later date.
