GOSHEN – Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler has released his 2022 annual report outlining the accomplishments of the county’s top law enforcement officer and his agency.  One of the most notable statistics is that Hoovler and his office convicted every defendant in felony jury trials in Orange County last year.  The outspoken opponent of the state’s bail reform laws also listed the following accomplishments in the report issued last week.

  • Continuation and strengthening of a thriving partnership with Hudson Valley Veterans Affairs promoting veterans’ well-being and the development of a Veterans Court
    for felony cases.
  • An increase in spending by the District Attorney’s Office in support of local law enforcement efforts, funds for police agencies to purchase body-worn cameras, and for construction of a new wing at the Police Chiefs’ Association of Orange County Police Academy.
  • Continued steadfast prosecution of large-scale drug trafficking organizations, including an investigation that resulted in the arrest of over thirty defendants from the Port Jervis area.
  • A new Chief Investigator, Rudolph Simmons, was appointed to replace the former Chief Investigator Wilfredo Garcia, who became the Undersheriff.

“In 2023, I look forward to building on our successes and aggressively combatting the dual scourges of illegal weapons possession and narcotics,” said District Attorney Hoovler. “My staff will continue to do all in our power to keep Orange County safe from repeat offenders who remain on our streets due to recent changes in the law.”
