Todd Hulet discusses future plans for Arts Council

MONTGOMERY – The new director of the Orange County Arts Council has a vision for the future of the arts in the county and he provided it to supporters and patrons last week while at City Winery in Montgomery.

Todd Hulet spoke about how he is hoping to improve its sustainability and the practical help that the council seeks to offer local artists.

Those include bringing in some less commonly recognized art forms, and promoting the arts in a way to develop a much more participatory and cohesive arts community.

“We are going to be laying groundwork for more opportunity for you, so when the opportunity comes and you say, ‘we have this idea,’ we can say, ‘here are some people who have already started that conversation too, here are some people that you should talk to,” he said.

Hulet’s vision comes from his more than 20 years of experience in the arts, including  facilitating individuals in the performing arts through drama, acting and performing music and art as well as writing and producing.

The council will seek other arts such as fiber artists, musicians, drama and open-air performers, ceramics, digital art and many other forms with the hope that a wider county population will appreciate and participate
