FISHKILL – Republican Town Councilman Carmine Istvan has announced his intention to become the next Fishkill Town Highway Superintendent, replacing longtime public servant Glenn Scofield, who indicated that he is not seeking re-election to the office he has held since 1970.  Scofield had indicated earlier this year that he would not run for the position.

Istvan, a lifelong resident of the Beacon and Fishkill area, spent years supervising snow removal at several area IBM facilities before starting Eastern View Landscaping in 2001 with only one employee.  In the past two decades the company has grown to 30 employees and is considered one of the largest snow removal and landscaping companies in the Hudson Valley.

“I am committed to bringing new ideas and innovative solutions to the Fishkill Highway department,” Istvan told Mid-Hudson News on Sunday night.  “I will use my extensive experience, knowledge and new technology to make a positive impact on our town highway department .”
