MID-HUDSON – Strong winds coupled with frigid temperatures Friday evening and overnight brought down trees, knocked out power and had residents turning up the thermostat.

The winds torn down trees and limbs across the region.

Temperatures dipped to zero and below with wind chills reported to be 15 to 20 below zero.

For those less fortunate with no place to stay overnight, communities and organizations reopened warming shelters.
