TOWN OF WAPPINGER – Retired police officer Robert Faust, a Republican, is running for Dutchess County’s 15th Legislative District.

Faust, a first-time candidate for public office, told Mid-Hudson News that he plans to bring his law enforcement knowledge to the legislature to protect the Wappinger community that he and his family have called home for more than two decades.

On Wednesday night the Town of Wappinger Republican Committee unanimously endorsed Faust to be their candidate for the November election.

Faust indicated that he plans to explore ways to continue saving taxpayer dollars by “following the responsible budgeting practices that Congressman Molinaro implemented during his tenure as Dutchess County Executive.”

The 46-year-old retired cop received accolades during his time in law enforcement and plans to use his knowledge to help improve public safety in the county.  “I stake my reputation on honesty, integrity, and loyalty,” Faust said., “I will fight to ensure that our first responders are equipped with all of the tools and resources necessary to keep our county safe while continuing the county’s efforts to expand access to mental health services.”

Faust and his wife of 18 years have raised two daughters in Wappinger.

His recognition as a member of law enforcement includes the Westchester County Police Department’s “Commendable Duty Award” and the Town of Fishkill Police Department’s “Honor Award For Public Service.”

Calling on his law enforcement experience, Faust plans to help the county legislature to find solutions to the bail reform laws that he calls “dangerous.”  The retired cop said he is “choosing now to get involved because it’s clear our government needs to prioritize law and order,” adding “As we look into the future, we must ensure that our community remains safe so that all residents can prosper.”
