BEACON – A Beacon man who was found dead in a stream in a wooded area off Teller Avenue near Henry Street in that city died from an apparent fall causing a head injury, Police Chief Sands Frost said on Thursday.

The body of Walter Miranda, 58, of Wolcott Avenue in Beacon was discovered before noon on January 1.

A joint investigation into his death was conducted by Beacon City Police and the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Detectives spent several days examining security footage from area cameras and interviewing Miranda’s associates and family members.

The medical examiner’s officer has not finalized its report due to awaiting toxicology results, but Chief Frost said everything in the investigation points to the fall as the cause of death. He said there were no other signs of a struggle or any other injuries indicating an assault.
