WASHINGTON – After a more than four-day delay, Congressman Pat Ryan (D, NY-18) was sworn into office in Saturday.

“The stakes for this country and for every American are simply too high for partisan games to continue- we must now come together as patriots to govern,” said Ryan. “I’m here to defend fundamental rights, and deliver much-needed relief. It is my job first and foremost to serve the Hudson Valley. While this body may appear divided, I commit to working with anyone, regardless of party, to serve our constituents, to fight on the side of freedom, and to get things done.

The freshman lawmaker said he has “the unique honor of being the first West Point graduate to represent the institution in Congress, a responsibility I do not take lightly.

He said, “Supporting West Point, along with all of our region’s veterans and military families, is a top priority. In addition, we need to keep building an economy that works for all, grow the manufacturing base in New York, and provide clean water for the region. I look forward to taking immediate action on these critical issues, as well as a number of others, in the weeks and months to come.”
