YORKTOWN – Matt Slater, who has served as Yorktown town supervisor since 2020, was sworn in on New Year’s Day as the new state assemblyman in the 94th District.

“The weight of this moment and the responsibility you have entrusted to me is significant,” Slater told the crowd of more than 100. “I am ready to tackle the challenges ahead with the same focus and energy that I brought to this building as Town Supervisor.”

Slater said he will continue the same motivation to do the people’s work in Albany as he has in town government.

The new lawmaker delivered the first town tax cut in a generation, passed economic development policies that spurred investment, and was able to have Yorktown recognized as a Climate Smart Community by the state and being named one of the safest mid-size communities in America.
