ALBANY – State Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R, C – Deerpark) has been promoted to the position of minority whip by Republican Minority Leader William Barclay.

Brabenec has served as deputy whip since 2019.

With the “ever-present need for economic and governmental reform in New York,” he is happy to further play his part in “pushing for the change citizens of the state deserve to see.”

The Orange County lawmaker said the GOP conference’s “leadership roster has never been better, and I’m energized by the passion and commitment shown in this past election. We’re ready to return to Albany and get to work on the issues that matter.”

Brabenec will continue to serve as the ranking Republican member of the Assembly Labor Committee and will serve as a member of the Rules, Ways and Means, and Election Law committees.
