Westchester Executive George Latimer signs the county's 2023 budget

VALHALLA – Westchester County Executive George Latimer signed the county’s 2023 budget on Monday with a property tax levy reduction of $6 million.

The current year ends with a $65.9 million operating surplus, the county executive said.

“That is money that we did not spend during the year and now that can become part of the financial savings account, the reserve account, that will help us weather any future changes that may yet occur in the 2023 year,” he said. “We were able to do both the 2022 and the ’23 budget without having to borrow money to pay for this budget.”

The county board of legislators adopted the $2.3 billion spending plan unanimously earlier in the day.
