NYACK – The Orthodox Jewish Congregation Yeshiva of Viznitz D’Khal Torath Chaim has been summoned to court for several building and code violations at the former Nyack College campus.

The congregation purchased the former college on 107 acres for $45.5 million in 2020.  The plans called for a school for 250 high school boys and 250 college men to be run on the campus.  The initial plans also called for housing for staff and family members.

Orangetown building inspectors have discovered an unauthorized elementary school operating on the campus and a daycare center, neither of which have the necessary permits.

Inspectors have also found several violations regarding illegal rooms, improper electrical service, and other issues.

The congregation has received several violations and is scheduled to appear in court on November 22, 2022 to answer the charges.
