The Middletown Christmas Tree brought into the city last year

The City of Middletown’s Christmas tree will arrive at John F. Degnan Square downtown on Saturday, November 12.

The tree has been donated by Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School & Parish of Middletown and will be cut from the school grounds at 205 Wawayanda Avenue in the rear of the school on Euclid Avenue.

The tree is estimated to be around 35 to 40 feet tall.

Aspen Landscaping and Tree Service, the city’s Department of Public Works and the parks department will cut the tree and erect it at Degnan Square.

The Middletown Police Department will escort Regional Trucking as it is brought to the site.

Harry Rotolo & Sons, Inc., members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 363 will decorate the tree with lights on Saturday, November 19 and a tree lighting parade and ceremony will be held on Friday, November 25 at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, the City of Newburgh is looking for a tree to display at its annual location on Lower Broadway.

The tree must be a blue spruce that is at least 35 feet tall.

Anyone willing to donate a tree is asked to contact Omar Balbuena, administrative assistant to the city manager, at 845-569-7380 or at obpalma@cityofnewburgh-ny.gov.

Once a tree is selected, the city Public Works Department will cut it down and transport it to its site near City Hall.

In past years, trees have been donated within city limits as well as from New Windsor, Town of Newburgh and Marlboro.
