Skoufis ahead of Houle in Senate race

MIDDLETOWN – Democratic State Senator James Skoufis was ahead of Republican Dorey Houle by 1,180 votes in his effort to remain in the upper house.

The new 42^nd District encompasses most of Orange County.

Skoufis polled 48.95 percent of the vote to Houle’s 47.76 percent.

Absentee ballots may be the deciding factor as to who will represent the district starting in January.
