POUGHKEEPSIE – Children and their families turned out by the dozens to enjoy “Trunk or Treat” at the VFW Post 170 on Saturday.  The event was sponsored by the post’s auxiliary.

Auxiliary President Dawn Roger chaired the Halloween event, as she has done since its inception three years ago.  “This is a great way for the Auxiliary and the Post to provide Halloween fun in a safe, controlled environment.”

The event featured several decorated vehicles where costumed children were able to get a head start on Monday’s candy collection.  Attendees were asked to vote for the car they thought had the best decorations.

Everyone who attended was able to eat free hot dogs, play a variety of fun-filled games, and interact with miniature therapy horses that even got dressed up for the festival.

Roger also said, “Our Auxiliary members really came together wearing costumes, decorating their cars, and giving the kids some Halloween fun.  They really make this event a success.
