Over 20 vehicle pile-up on I-95 in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE – Twenty-one passenger vehicles and two tractor-trailers were involved in a series of crashes on I-95 northbound in the City of New Rochelle Wednesday morning after a truck leaded approximately 100 gallons of an unknown liquid onto the roadway causing extremely slippery conditions, State Police said.

The incident occurred at around 6:45 a.m. The crashes occurred o0ver the span of a mile.

Seven people were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

New Rochelle Fire Department and Thruway maintenance personnel responded and assisted troopers with the spill cleanup.

All lanes were reopened shortly after 9 a.m.
