AIRMONT – A 41-year-old Airmont man was arrested by Ramapo Police twice on Thursday following a scuffle with police officers and later for allegedly damaging a local hotel.
The initial arrest stemmed from damage the man caused at an area convenience store/gas station.
Police said the man, whose name they did not release, violently resisted arrest, spit in the faces and on the arms of several officers while they attempted to take him into custody.
An officer deployed a Taser, but the man continued to resist arrest, so a second Taser was deployed.
He was finally taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation after which he was brought to police headquarters where he was charged with criminal tampering, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, and harassment.
He was released on an appearance ticket. After being released, the man allegedly went to a local hotel and caused damage there. He was then charged with criminal mischief.
