ALBANY – New York State DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos is taking a leave of absence to assist humanitarian efforts in war-torn Ukraine, he announced.

“We all must do our part to keep Ukrainians safe during this brutal war, and support democracy wherever it is imperiled,” Seggos announced in a Twitter post on Monday.

Seggos has been the DEC Commissioner since 2015.  While he is on leave, DEC Deputy Commissioner Sean Mahar will lead the agency.
