CATSKILL – The PFC Joseph P. Dwyer Veteran Peer Support Program will be expanding to Greene County with $185,000 in state funding.

State Senator Michelle Hinchey (D, Saugerties) said it is a model to save veterans’ lives.

“It’s really difficult when people come back and are expected just to be able to forget everything that they experienced, especially the combat veterans, and come back home and find a job, pick where they left off,” she said. “A lot of our veterans are struggling so we have to do everything that we can to make sure that we’re making life as easy and successful as possible for them.”

In Greene County, the Vet2Vet program will be administered by the Hudson Valley Center for Veteran Reintegration in partnership with the county Veterans Service Agency and the Department of Mental Health.
