KINGSTON – Tenants of buildings in Kingston constructed before 1974 that have six or more units are now protected by the Emergency Tenant Protection Act of 1974 (EPTA). An information session covering tenants’ rights is being held Thursday, September 8th for tenants to learn about what the program covers.

The city opted into the program that protects tenants through rent control and unfair evictions.

Community organizations including For The Many and Citizens Action are hosting the information session on Thursday, September 8, at 7:00 p.m.  Housing attorneys will be present to answer questions at the meeting at 13 Grand Street in Kingston, and food and childcare will be provided.

Sixty-four buildings in Kingston, accounting for approximately 1300 units are covered under the program.  A full list of the buildings and additional information can be found here.
