Two arrested during “Operation Thundercat”

NEW ROCHELLE – Two Chicago residents have been arrested by authorities in Westchester County as law enforcement continues its “Operation Thundercat,” a county-wide effort by Westchester County Police to combat recent thefts of vehicles and catalytic converters.

At about 3:36 a.m. on September 2, Westchester Police Real Time Crime Center received information that Greenwich, CT Police were pursuing a vehicle southbound on I-95 for burglarizing a Saks Fifth Avenue store.

New Rochelle Police and Westchester County Police were in the area and able to deflate the suspects’ tires.

Alton Jackson, 34, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, criminal impersonation, unlawfully fleeing police, reckless driving and being a fugitive from justice for several warrants from Illinois for violent felonies.

Mykuan Smith, 28, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property.
