An estimated 25 acres of forest were burning at Napanoch Point in Minnewaska State Park Preserve late Monday afternoon.

NAPANOCH – The forest fire that has been burning for a week in the Napanoch area of Minnewaska State Park Preserve is getting smaller.

Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan said late Friday it is currently estimated at 163 acres in size, down from the 270 acres burning just two days ago.

As of Friday, 176 personnel are working on suppression efforts.

No homes or businesses are impacted by the fire.

Ryan also said the Stony Kill fire is contained and in patrol status.

“In the past year, Ulster County has experienced an ice storm, power outages, a tornado and now a wildfire. I’m proud of how our community always comes together to help each other,” Ryan said.

And Governor Kathy Hochul and the state have been there for us every single time.
