NAPANOCH – The Napanoch Point fire has grown to an estimated 270 acres, Ulster County Executive Patrick Ryan said.

Due to changing fire and weather conditions, containment of the Napanoch Point fire is unknown at this time.

The Stony Kill fire in Minnewaska State Park Preserve is 1.5 acres and 95 percent contained.

Firefighters from Quebec will be joining the effort on Thursday.

Dutchess County fire departments have deployed resources to assist in suppressing the fires.

Nearly 20 firefighters have responded with a variety of equipment including utility terrain vehicles and support vehicles with firefighting capabilities.

The Napanoch Point fire is believed to have started as a result of lightning strikes.
