NEW CITY – Two Rockland County men have been indicted by a grand jury stemming from a kidnapping and robbery at a motel in Garnerville.

District Attorney Thomas Walsh II said Jonathan Abikzer, 30, of Monsey, and Michael Galkovich, 46, of New City were both charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and two counts of robbery.

On August 16, Haverstraw Town Police received a report from an individual that he had been the victim of a robbery.

The victim met the two men at a motel under the assumption he was giving an estimate to renovate motel rooms. Instead, once inside a room, he was held at gunpoint for several hours and eventually forced to transfer money to the suspects.

The victim was released unharmed shortly thereafter.

An investigation by Haverstraw Town Police led to the arrests of Abikzer and Galkovich. Following their arraignment, they were remanded to the Rockland County Jail, Abikzer on $100,000 cash bail and Galkovich on $50,000 bail.
