POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Sheriff Kirk Imperati helped distribute 75 backpacks at the Beulah Baptist Church on Sunday to help children get ready for the new school year.  On Saturday Imperati did the same at Christ Episcopal Church.

The bookbag distribution was a collaboration between Imperati, the churches, Arlington Rotary, and bookbag donors Phil and Jen Gableman of AAR Auctions.

Speaking about the bag donations and distribution, Imperati downplayed the gesture, saying “We continue to help our friends and families in need in Poughkeepsie and throughout Dutchess County.”

Beulah Baptist Church Assistant Minister Stacey Bottoms, who serves as the youth director for the church, was thankful for the donations.  “Sheriff Imperati pulled together a group of people that stepped up to help our children and we are more than happy to help get them to the kids that need them,” she said while distributing them with the help of Minister Jonathan McPhee and Associate Minister Astarr Buchanan.
