MAHOPAC – The son of a former Putnam County Sheriff has been arrested on child pornography charges. Sheriff Kevin McConville announced the arrest of his predecessor’s son several months after the arrest.
Thirty-six-year-old Robert Langley III was arrested in May by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office on four counts of possession of child pornography. The former sheriff’s son was arrested in Mahopac.
The accused is the son of former Sheriff Robert Langley Jr., who was defeated by McConville in last November’s election.
Sheriff’s investigators had received information from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that a person had shared multimedia images of child sexual abuse from a residence in the Town of Carmel and a search warrant was executed at the address in late May.
Langley III was charged with felony possession of child pornography and released pending an appearance in the Town of Carmel Court.
