SAUGERTIES – The Winston Farm project proposed in the Town of Saugerties has received the backing of the Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The plans call for diverse recreational, entertainment, agricultural, residential and hospitality uses on about half of the 840 acres of property immediately off Thruway exit 20.

Chamber President Ward Todd said the board feels the project is right on the money.

“The board was very impressed, with not only with the scope of the project, its potential impact on our local economy, but really, the attitude the developers came in with, which was very much listening to the public, find out what the public thinks they should develop on that site of land, and also the fact that they are turning over at least half of it for public access,” he said.

Todd said the developers are “respected Saugerties business leaders with deep community roots.
