PORT JERVIS – Port Jervis is known as being located in the Tri-States area and that’s because it is the point where New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey actually meet.

And in a remote area along the Delaware River, there is a small monument erected in 1882 with the three states’ names engraved in it, marking the spot where the three states touch.

Unfortunately, it was recently defaced with graffiti, but Port Jervis Mayor Kelly Decker said it has been cleaned up by city workers.

“Unfortunately, there are people out there that are going to ruin the nice things that people have. This was one of them, it was defaced, the Tri-State Rock as well as the surrounding area. Immediately, our DPW crew went to work to get rid of the graffiti and paint over all of the obscenities and profanities that were there,” he said.

There are no street cameras in that area that might have captured the perpetrators because there is no electricity in that remote location.
