Firefighters extinguish bedroom fire in City of Newburgh

NEWBURGH – Firefighters were able to contain an upstairs fire to the bedroom in a home at 46 Wilkin Street in the City of Newburgh on Wednesday night. 

The blaze was prevented from spreading as the bedroom door was shut.

Firefighters from West Point and the Stewart Air Guard Base assisted at the scene.

Central Hudson was called in to cut the power.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Goodwill and Cronomer Valley fire departments were on standby at the Newburgh Public Safety Building.
