Small airplane lands on Sullivan County roadway

MONTICELLO – A small airplane made an emergency landing on Route 42 on the Monticello/Thompson town line at 12:45 p.m. on Friday.

The pilot was able to get out of the Cessna aircraft by himself with EMS personnel reporting no injuries.

The plane was on fire and volunteers from the Monticello Fire Department responded to the scene as smoke poured from the engine.

The incident is under investigation.
