Massachusetts man in Putnam jail after road rage incident

SOUTHEAST – New York State Police have arrested a Lexington, MA man for a road rage incident that took place on I-684 on July 10.  Justin Blundell is facing several felony charges after allegedly threatening another motorist with a gun.

Twenty-three-year-old Blundell, of Lexington, MA has been charged with the felonies of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, menacing, and possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device.  He also faces three misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Troopers say that on July 10, at approximately 3:20 p.m., they were dispatched to Interstate 684 in the town of Southeast for a report of a man menacing another motorist with a firearm.  Troopers located the suspect’s vehicle northbound near mile marker 27.  The investigation determined the man, identified as Blundell, got into a road rage incident with another operator and menaced the victim, who had children in the vehicle, with an illegally possessed H&K P2000 9MM handgun.

Additional investigation revealed Blundell was in illegal possession of an H&K VP9 9MM handgun and a Sig Sauer 5.56 AR-15 style rifle with a non-compliant ammunition feeding device.

Blundell was arraigned before the town of Southeast Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond pending a future court date.
