POUGHKEEPSIE – Jury selection for the trial of Poughkeepsie Common Council Chairperson Sarah Salem’s DWI trial was slated to begin on Monday, June 13, but has been postponed indefinitely.

The defense has requested the adjournment due to a COVID diagnosis for a member of the defense team.  A new court date has not been set.

Salem was arrested on February 26, 2020, after being involved in a car accident on Main Street in which she struck a car operated by a city resident.  Salem was taken into custody after being administered a field sobriety test.  The full account of the ongoing case can be found here.
