POUGHKEEPSIE – City police have apprehended two subjects after Monday’s shooting in King Street Park in Poughkeepsie.  Several people had called City 911 to report shots being fired at approximately 6:30 pm.  The original story can be found here.

Police Detective Lieutenant Matt Clark said responding officers observed 19-year-old Abdul Ellddioui running from the scene along with a 15-year-old male.  The officers chased the two subjects who proceeded to jump over a fence in the Boulevard Knolls housing project.  The men then entered an apartment that was not rented to either subject.  Police recovered a 9mm handgun in the vicinity where the two men had jumped over the fence.

The shell casings recovered at the scene were fired from a 9mm weapon.

The two males were brought to police headquarters for questioning. Elladdioui had a bench warrant for disorderly conduct and was held on the warrant.

Elladdioui told police that he had run because he heard the gunshots and denied any knowledge of the handgun recovered at the fence that he went over.

The mother of the 15-year-old invoked his right to counsel and was released to his mother at police headquarters.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.  Anyone with information on this shots fired call or any other firearm-related incident should call the City of Poughkeepsie Police at 845-451-7577.
