WEST POINT – Lt. Gen. Darryl Williams became the 60th superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in July 2018 and he is expected to be moving on some time in the near future. Exactly when has not yet been announced.

During remarks at last Saturday’s graduation ceremony, Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, commented that Williams would be leaving the academy.

A West Point spokeswoman on Monday said no announcement about his department has been made and a request for comment from the U.S. Army in the Pentagon went unanswered.

On average, a West Point superintendent serves three to five years before being reassigned or retiring.

Williams is a 1983 graduate of West Point and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army at the time.
