State Senate district lines as draw by special master
Chris Ludlow: considering 39th District State Senate run

ALBANY -A special master has redrawn district lines for the State Senate, which could result in some interesting and tough races this fall.

A new 39th District would include the Town of Montgomery, City and Town of Newburgh, City of Beacon, Town and Village of Fishkill, Town of Wappinger, City and Town of Poughkeepsie, Cold Spring and Philipstown.

One Democrat, Chris Ludlow of Montgomery, is considering a run for that district.

“Having been the Hudson Valley Legislative and Political Coordinator for the Civil Service Employees Association for the past 12 years, I’ve been a leading voice for the middle-class, fighting for fair pay, retirement security, quality healthcare, and safety at the workplace,” he said.

Ludlow said he would make a final decision once the legislative lines are adopted.

No Republican has expressed interest at this early date since the new lines were announced late Monday.

A new 42nd Senate District would encompass the remainder of Orange County not in the new 39th.

As of now, that would pit incumbent Senators Republican Michael Martucci against Democrat James Skoufis.

Martucci said he is definitely running for that seat, but Skoufis is exploring a possible congressional run that could pit him against Ulster County Executive Patrick Ryan.

Skoufis’ camp hinted that he is also exploring running in the 39th District. “All options are being explored,” said an insider.
